&lt;em&gt;Storefront for Art and Architecture seeks two Curatorial Fellows to assist in the research, planning, exhibition design and installation of an upcoming exhibition at Storefront that will join contemporary creative audiences with 101 unrealized proposals for New York, dating from its formation to today, to construct alternative visions for the city. Fellows will work under the direction and advisement of the Executive Director and will report regularly to the Operations Manager and Program Coordinator. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in the entire exhibition process – from research and design to installation and archiving.     <title>New Theatre Museum of Krakow | Nowe Muzeum Teatralne //competition</title>

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[ENG]&lt;/strong&gt; When you design a museum the first thing you have to understand is its relation with the urban environment and the impact it will have in the future city. Former liberal ideas on the city planning tend to think that equivalent uses, as the museum and the theatre, must compete. If they are close to each other, market laws will determine that the strongest would exterminate the weaker. Contemporary thinking on city planning states the opposite, focus on linking, networking and sharing, on a win-win symbioses.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[POL]&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;Podejmując się zaprojektowania budynku muzealnego bardzo ważne jest zrozumienie jego relacji ze środowiskiem miejskim oraz jego wpływu na przyszłość i rozwój miasta. Dawne liberalne idee w zakresie planowania miasta, koncentrują się wokół myślenia, że równoważne zastosowania, jak Muzeum Teatralne Miasta Krakowa i Teatr im. Juliusza Słowackiego, muszą w pewnym stopniu ze sobą konkurować. Jeśli oba te zastosowania będą oddziaływały na siebie, to wówczas prawo rynkowe zdecyduje i jedno z nich wyprze drugie. Natomiast współczesne myślenie o planowaniu miasta jest całkowicie przeciwne, skupia się na połączeniu, sieci i udostepnieniu, na ogólnej symbiozie.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[ENG] &lt;/strong&gt;The idea of thinking this area of the city as a performing art's cluster, making themuseum, the  theatre and all the surrounding public space network, seams fundamental for the importance of the future building. This area of the city has all the conditions to stand as a cultural spotlight in the city dynamics and to rise as a most visit place for tourism. But for that public spaces must be reorganized. The actual parking conditions are heavily aggressive to people's fluid movements. So, even though it is not in the competition plot but considering that one public building as a museum might be the perfect moment for urban qualification, we consider that this is the perfect moment to solve the car parking problems. Our proposal is that car parking stays in the same plot, however, underground. This new underground parking will adsorb all the parking space, releasing space for new sidewalks and, on the top of it, one public square that may work as one informal open air theatre for young performers and actors.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[POL]&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;em&gt; Idea zakłada dany obszar miasta jako miejsce kulturalnych zgromadzeń, tworząc Museum Historyczne Miasta Krakowa oraz Teatr Juliusza Słowackiego i ich otoczenie w postaci przestrzeni publicznej, jako fundamentu dla przyszłego projektu. Miejsce to ma w sobie potencjał, aby stać się centrum kulturalnym i turystycznym, jednakże aby to się udało musi być przereorganizowane. Aktualne warunki parkingowe agresywnie ingerują w płynność przemieszczania się pieszych. Pomimo, że obszar parkingu nie podlega działaniom konkursowym, to analizując i projektując museum staramy się rozwiązać wszystkie problemy, dlatego wydaje się być to perfekcyjny moment na rozwiązanie jednego z nich, jakim jet problem z parkingiem. Nasza propozycja zakłada pozostawienie parkingu w tym samym miejscu, jednakże jako podziemnego. Nowa idea absorbuje wszystkie potrzebne miejsca parkingowe, pozostawiając na szczycie przestrzeń otwartą, która może jednocześnie pełnić funkcję nieformalnego, odkrytego teatru dla młodych wykonawców i aktorów.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[ENG]&lt;/strong&gt; The buildings of the competition plot had suffered several interventions on different epochs. This differences may be noticed both on the interior and exterior, by the proportions, design, materials and so forth. In the interior spaces this differences might be very interesting to reinforce, providing identity to each space. However, the north façade is totally harmed destroying the coherence of the building complex.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[POL]&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;Budynek Museum Historycznego, na przestrzeni wieków poddawany był wpływom różnorodnych epok i styli. Wyraźnie zarysowanymi rozbieżnościami, zarówno wewnątrz budynku jak i na zewnątrz są: proporcje, konstrukcja oraz użyte materiały. Jednakże, poprzez swoją unikalność i różnice stylowe, nadają szczegolną toższamość każdej z przestrzeni wnętrza. Natomiast całkowice zniszczona północna fasada muzeum narusza spójność i estetykę całego budynku.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[ENG]&lt;/strong&gt; Designing on one historical buildings is always a story of commitments. Preparing one old building to work as a museum has always two classes of problems: vertical communications – stairs and elevators, and new infrastructures – were normally the air conditioning is the most difficult. (Off course one can always say that you don't have air conditioning or that the elevator might not rich all floors, but then you are doing one project that in a short period time will be obsolete. In the second case it raises a second problem. Is it ethical to design a museum that excludes citizens with reduced mobility?) The actual building does not give us much options. Designing the core for elevators and infrastructures in the interior of the building would devastate it. The only pragmatical solution is to construct all this new issues on a new structure that will came out from the north façade. This solution, demolishing – as explained ahead – the actual façade and substituting it by glass walls, will upgrade significantly the quality of natural interior light and embodies the idea of the competition that the people that are inside de museum may feel the experience of being on a play. This new body faces the open square theatre over the underground parking and will be seen as the new Krakow theatre neighbourhood.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;[POL]&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;em&gt;Projektowanie historycznego budynku jest zawsze historią połączoną ze zobowiązaniami. Przygotowywanie starego budynku tak, aby funkcjonował jako muzeum prowadzi zawsze do sklasyfikowania dwóch jego problemów: komunikacji pionowej – schodów i wind oraz nowej infrastruktury, gdzie zazwyczaj natrudniejszą kwestią jest klimatyzacja. (Oczywiście, zawsze można stwierdzić, że nie stosujemy klimatyzacji, czy winda nie sięga wszystkich kondygnacji, jednakże projektując rozważamy każdy aspekt pod względem przyszłej funkcjonalności. W przeciwnym przypadku pojawia się drugi problem i nasuwa się pytanie, czy etyczne jest projektować museum, wykluczając tym samym obywateli o ograniczonej sprawności ruchowej?) Obecny budynek nie daje zbyt wiele możliwości, ponieważ projektowanie rdzenia windy jak i całej infrastruktury naruszy i zaburzy jego wnętrze. Jedynym słusznym rozwiązniem jest konstrukcja tych aspektów na całkiem nowej strukturze, opierającej się na północnej fasadzie budynku. To rozwiązanie, wyburzenie - wspomnianej wcześniej - aktualnej elewacji i zastąpienie jej przez szklaną ścianę, znacząco wpłynie na poprawe jakości naturalnego oswietlenia wnętrz. Co wiecej zostanie zrealizowana idea konkursu, gdzie zwiedzający muzeum będą mogli poczuć doświadczenie bycia na sztuce teatralnej.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qual a vossa perspectiva da arquitectura portuguesa contemporânea? Sentem que existem diferenças geracionais no nosso contexto disciplinar? Se sim, como e onde se manifestam?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Parece-nos que existe uma imagem do que é a “arquitectura portuguesa contemporânea” que nada tem a ver com a realidade. Isso manifesta-se nas exposições de “arquitectura portuguesa” e nas representações oficiais. Tudo o que não se inscreve na referida imagem, tende a ser ignorado e silenciado. Com as gerações mais novas, a relação mestre-aprendiz desapareceu e as afinidades esbateram-se por uma série de razões. Por outro lado, os programas de intercâmbio de estudantes e jovens trabalhadores desvaneceram fronteiras e possibilitaram novos cruzamentos. A massificação e democratização do acesso à profissão e a crise, têm criado condições extraordinárias para a prática da profissão. Se continuamos a pensar que há uma identidade comum que nos permite ainda falar de “arquitectura portuguesa”, essa nada tem a ver com a imagem que dela é projectada em feiras e festivais. Essa identidade talvez se manifeste pela carência de meios, pela procura de uma certa simplicidade e pela ambição de transformação social. Aliás, parece-nos que este último aspecto está a fazer emergir uma série de novos ateliers e projectistas interessantíssimos que, curiosamente, estão muito mais relacionados com uma certa arquitectura de intervenção dos anos 60/70 do que com as arquitecturas de continuidade do final do séc. XX.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Como definem o vosso posicionamento disciplinar e programa arquitectónico, tendo em conta o actual panorama geral da arquitectura contemporânea? Que papel pode ter a vossa actividade como arquitectos?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Nós inscrevemo-nos nos que querem tomar parte activa na transformação da realidade em que vivemos. Ou seja, interessa-nos trabalhar para melhorar a vida das pessoas. Interessa-nos muito menos participar em processos cujo centro é a criação de mais valias financeiras. Sempre trabalhámos em crise e sempre tivemos de trabalhar muito para conseguir angariar novos projectos. Ora isto faz com que, no momento em que as empresas estão a despedir, nós estejamos a contratar e a estimular parcerias com outras realidades. Até certo ponto, a nossa crónica falta de recursos, tem-nos, até agora, impermeabilizado dos cortes e recessão. Por outro lado, parece-nos que a actual situação política e económica do país fará com que os ateliers com que partilhamos este posicionamento disciplinar, sejam fulcrais. Ou seja, a realidade está a colocar-nos no centro da solução. Oxalá tenhamos força para fazer o que podemos.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Que filiações ou influências marcaram o vosso percurso formativo e profissional? Como é que elas se manifestam na vossa produção arquitectónica?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Para a pergunta das influências nunca encontramos resposta. O ateliermob tem sido construído por cada um que nele tem participado. É, por isso, palco de inúmeras influências. Filiações sentimo-las com todos os que sentimos próximos do nosso posicionamento disciplinar. Celebramos as vitórias dos &lt;a href="http://www.moov.pt/"&gt;moov&lt;/a&gt; e do &lt;a href="http://www.atelierdata.com/"&gt;atelier data&lt;/a&gt; em Dallas ou das &lt;a href="http://www.blaanc.com"&gt;blaanc&lt;/a&gt; e do &lt;a href="http://berootstudio.wordpress.com/"&gt;João Caeiro&lt;/a&gt; nos concursos da “Architecture for Humanity”, os prémios do &lt;a href="http://www.paulomoreira.net/"&gt;Paulo Moreira&lt;/a&gt; ou da Maria Moita, cada projecto dos &lt;a href="http://www.planob.com/"&gt;plano b&lt;/a&gt; ou a The Informal School of Architecture (TISA) dos &lt;a href="www.urbanouveau.com/"&gt;Urban Nouveau*&lt;/a&gt; - entre tantos outros. Os seus sucessos estimulam e reforçam a ideia que há uma nova geração de arquitectos que está farta de esperar e que quer participar na resolução dos problemas que nos afectam.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qual a vossa posição perante a realidade produtiva, económica e social em que interveem? Quais os grandes desafios por trás da vossa abordagem arquitectónica? Que áreas de trabalho e tipos de encomenda vos motivam? Como estabelecem e gerem as vossas opções profissionais tendo em conta a sustentabilidade do atelier?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;O grande desafio pelo qual todos passamos é o crescimento. Neste momento, em Portugal temos tudo contra. Mais impostos, menos oportunidades para as micro e pequenas empresas, menos obras e investimento, um processo absurdo de emigração dos mais qualificados e uma situação social à beira da ruptura. Ou seja, temos o caixão feito à nossa espera. A nossa estratégia, a curto prazo, tem de ser trabalhar fora de Portugal. É aí que estamos a investir. Não nos mercados comummente identificados como el dorados, onde circula muito dinheiro e o novo-riquismo impera, mas nos mais periféricos. No dia em que cair o último plano de austeridade, em que as pessoas voltem a estar no centro da política e em que se começar a pensar reconstruir o país, cá estaremos.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Porque optaram por um nome colectivo para o vosso atelier? O que significa e o que pretende comunicar essa designação?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;A pratica de arquitectura tem cada vez menos a ver com a ideia de um arquitecto autor, Demiurgo, que tudo decide. As exigências técnicas, a complexidade dos programas e dos projectos ou os tempos para a sua execução tornam fundamental o trabalho de equipa. Agora que deixámos os estiradores para trabalhar com x-ref's até a autoria de uma peça desenhada passou a ser colectiva. Em nosso entender, não faria grande sentido intitularmo-nos atelier da Andreia ou do Tiago. Sempre pensámos que declararmo-nos como "the mob" podia ter algum mercado em Portugal.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Seja entre vocês como colectivo, seja com colaborações externas ou projectos paralelos, como caracterizam a vossa forma de trabalhar? Que contactos e redes de investigação procuram estabelecer?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Uma das coisas que mais apreciamos na arquitectura é a sua capacidade intrínseca de conviver com as mais diferentes áreas profissionais. Isso faz com que o atelier seja um excelente pretexto para cruzamentos com pessoas com quem gostamos ou gostaríamos de trabalhar. Recentemente sucedeu promovermos um consórcio português para um concurso de um museu em Copenhaga, com a &lt;a href="http://www.experimentadesign.pt/"&gt;experimenta design&lt;/a&gt; – com quem gostamos de trabalhar, e com a &lt;a href="http://www.ydreams.com/"&gt;YDreams&lt;/a&gt; – com quem gostaríamos de trabalhar. Consideramos fundamentais as conversas com a &lt;a href="http://pt-pt.facebook.com/people/Dalila-Rodrigues/100000880474559"&gt;Dalila Rodrigues&lt;/a&gt; no concurso para um museu municipal ou as entrevistas que a &lt;a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1080432892&amp;amp;ref=ts"&gt;Filipa Ramalhete&lt;/a&gt; promoveu para a elaboração do projecto do cemitério de Moura nas quais tivemos oportunidade de conhecer as formas de culto aos mortos de diferentes religiões. Isto para já não falar na importância que a &lt;a href="http://betar.pt/"&gt;Betar&lt;/a&gt;, empresa de engenharia civil com que trabalhamos desde sempre, tem nas nossas soluções de projecto. Por outro lado, nos projectos com crianças tem sido fundamental o trabalho com a &lt;a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1653022240"&gt;Marta Silva&lt;/a&gt; ou com a &lt;a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=775438293&amp;amp;ref=ts"&gt;Madalena Marques&lt;/a&gt;. Na exposição da Geração Z encontrámos mais um pretexto para trabalharmos com outros criadores. Entretanto há anos que temos vindo a adiar parcerias com ateliers estrangeiros que nos contactam para fazermos colaborações em concursos. Talvez suceda alguma coisa em 2012.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Como se desenvolve o vosso processo criativo? Que questões e instrumentos projectuais privilegiam?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Ainda não temos tempo suficiente de actividade para conseguir encontrar um padrão de desenvolvimento do processo criativo. De qualquer forma há uma ideia que nos parece essencial: não há um instrumento de projecto superior. A arquitectura é uma actividade, primordialmente, intelectual. A partir daí, os instrumentos de comunicação e de projecto devem adaptar-se (e não o contrário) à demonstração (ou teste) da ideia que temos. Procuramos usar o instrumento de projecto que melhor nos serve, em cada momento, para materializar uma ideia. Não endeusamos nenhum em especial.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;No âmbito do nosso mundo mediatizado, como entendem e desenvolvem as práticas de divulgação do vosso trabalho? Que plataformas e meios privilegiam? Qual o vosso entendimento do papel da imagem na arquitectura actual?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;O ateliermob constituiu-se no final de 2005. Contudo já havia algum trabalho realizado em comum. Inicialmente não tínhamos meios para fazer um site e decidimos fazer um blogue de uma forma amadora, para colocar o nosso trabalho rapidamente online. Assim que tivemos o blogue começámos a perceber que, quanto mais interactivo fosse, maior era o seu potencial. Passámos a vê-lo como uma forma de mostrar a nossa prática, processo e hesitações, sem receio que isso secundarizasse o trabalho. Contemporaneamente começámos a perceber que o blogue tinha muitas visitas e que se poderia transformar num instrumento de divulgação de outros ateliers que nos interessavam. Em 2007 ganhámos o prémio do melhor blogue, na área empresarial. E em 2008, a PT propos-nos passarmos para o universo Sapo, assegurando-nos a logística e programação que fazíamos de uma forma amadora. Mas todas as redes sociais nas quais estamos (blogue, facebook e twitter) têm sido fundamentais para a nossa divulgação fora de Portugal. A nossa arquitectura não entra na maioria das escolhas de quem promove a arquitectura em Portugal mas, ao mesmo tempo, somos dos ateliers portugueses mais publicados fora de Portugal. E isso devemo-lo às redes de comunicação que criámos. Sempre que fazemos um comunicado de imprensa por ocasião de um projecto terminado, 4 em 5 pedidos de publicação, são de fora de Portugal. Se anunciamos uma conferência em Barcelona ou em Toronto, isso faz com que, quem acompanha o nosso trabalho, vá assistir ou combine jantar connosco. Muitas coisas começam assim.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Como (ante)vêm o vosso atelier, a vossa actividade e a vossa arquitectura daqui a dez anos?&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Vemo-nos com um pé em Portugal, a trabalhar na correcção de todos os males que têm feito ao país nestes últimos 30 anos, e outro lá fora onde formos precisos e onde nos quiserem.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
